Twilio – a cloud communications platform – conducted an online survey on how COVID-19 has accelerated businesses towards their digital transformation, and they came back with some interesting results from the UK respondents. 96% of UK decision makers said that the recent pandemic has sped up their company’s plans to digitally transform.
As many businesses in the UK look to integrate more digital technology and automation, some may find they are anchored down by their old, legacy systems. These legacy systems may still be used to run mission-critical workloads that are very important and if they were to break or stop working, it could cripple their business. It’s why some businesses are reluctant on making the transition to cloud architecture, as the risk is too high if these systems were to fall over.
Legacy in the cloud
This does not mean if you have a legacy system it can’t be moved to the cloud, it means you should only trust an MSP (Managed Service Provider) who has the experience and expertise in transitioning these systems. Blue Chip has a lot of experience in bringing legacy systems to the cloud. In 2019, an international travel company approached us as they were still paying hardware maintenance for their AS/400 and it was costing them a fortune because of the age of the kit.
