Job summary

To be a technical expert in the Data Management for Blue Chip and provide 2nd & 3rd line support to storage / SAN infrastructure. To support internal and external customers with all contracted services. Internal support of Sales activities, Client Services and Technical Teams in the implementation of new solutions. To evaluate and propose new products that add value to Blue Chip’s sales catalogue, working closely with Data Management technical architects.

Key result areas:

  • Implement and support Customer and Blue Chip internal storage systems
  • Provide support and guidance to internal and external personnel in the use of storage / SAN technologies and data recovery solutions
  • Own the process to deliver new storage / SAN solutions to market that will complement Blue Chip’s sales catalogue
  • Work closely with other team members to implement projects
  • Training of other teams and members to ensure service and project delivery is maintained at all times.
  • Support design and delivery of transformation & automation of repetitive tasks
  • Maintain current market knowledge and an awareness of emerging technologies
  • Be aware & adopt inter-related technologies
  • To be responsible for all hardware requirements, including break fix, and new installations. And train junior team members for hardware related tasks.
  • Direct & coordinate own activities necessary for technical development
  • To undertake training as discussed and agreed in order to ensure up to date knowledge SAN / storage solutions
  • Mentoring of more junior team members
  • Be part of on call rota
  • Undertake other related tasks as requested by the Technical Lead
  • Provide support to the Sales department in pre and post sales customer facing activities as it relates to the provision of new backup and storage contracted services
  • Automation opportunities identified and implemented

Key personal requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise storage, not limited to IBM SAN but must include IBM SAN experience. EMC and other SAN knowledge would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to capacity and performance management tools
  • Minimum of 3-5 years practical experience of storage / SAN solutions
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and ISO/PCI Standards
  • Knowledge of Storage Technologies; EMC, IBM Storwize, Flash Storage
  • Knowledge of SAN management; Brocade, Cisco, Fabric Administration (FCOE Administration desirable)
  • Experience of High-availability / Disaster Recovery storage solutions; IBM Copy services, Hitachi True Copy, EMC SRDF, Doubletake and SRM
  • Exposure to capacity and performance management tools; IBM TPC, Spectrum Control and STOR2RRD or similar tools.
  • Ability to conform to Blue Chip procedures / policies
